Marin Quake Test

Jim has been after a bike that will basically do everything he can throw at it. He will also have an XC hardtail so being really lightweight was not a priority. After receiving a demo Quake from ATB we decided to lighten up their freeride build a bit. We put Jim's Lyrik's, wheels and discs on and it transformed the bike.
Jims review - Considering how much these bikes weigh (approx 35lbs upwards), the pedalling performance is phenomenal. The bike disguises its weight very well and feels agile and flickable out on the trail. The four-bar linkage is very impressive on this bike, we are yet to discover terrain that phases the Quake. At all times it feels very stable and confidence inspiring. We gave the bike a proper testing at Coed-Y-Brenin and rode it for 25miles. Previous to setting off from the carpark we weighed the bike at 37lbs, I think this exemplifies just how well these bikes pedal. You can get the seat up and get comfortable on the Quake due to the generous top tube reach (23inch on the medium) and an un-interrupted seat tube. In short if you are the type of rider that wants to pedal up mountains to blast back down the otherside, buy one of these! If you want more information about the Quake, please get in touch with myself (Jim).

As you can see thats not the Marin Trail. After driving to the Pinnacle Cafe at Capel Curig we discovered the road was closed due to a car crash. So instead of going the long way to the Marin trail we ended up riding at Llandegla. Hangovers and colds didn't really help but we still loved it. My Enduro is awesome now I've put Rock Shox Lyrik's and Hope Moto's on it. Brilliant!

Training!

Iya!

As we are such kind and considerate chaps here at Brian Rourke Cycles we thought we'd update you on our misadventures (it'll be probably be quite amusing!). Anyway a few of us are off to Wales tonight to have a couple of beers (or 12) and we'll be riding the Marin Trail in the Gwydyr Forest tomorrow. We'll post a few pics and keep you updated on various, random things.
See you later!
